My 1st 5K

Saturday March 13th, I will never forget the day.

Today I ran my first 5K, wow what a feeling to cross the finish line.  I ran the Lochrann's Paddy Dash in Frisco Texas, and Kenny came with me. So cool mother and son running their 1st 5K together.

Ken started out the morning saying he was going to stay with me, but my team is  awesome. They were super supportive of me and of Ken. Mark, one of the mentors talked to him and helped realize this was such a personal thing for him.
So the horn went off and he was off like a rocket. It was great to see him up front. We crossed paths several times throughout the race and I was able to give the motherly, " Good job, keep it up" advice. (Insert BIG Cheesy Grin here).

I did my best to keep a steady pace, hard for me with out someone with me or music in my ears, but I did okay. I did the race in intervals since my shins were not behaving, but I endured..  Running as much as I could.

With cheerleaders all along the way, from TEAM members and volunteers, we were cheered on in style.  Passing though the finish line area was awesome with the noise of all the cheerleading to the little girls standing with hands out, for a high five cheering you on.

The coolest part was not just finishing it was finishing the last leg with my son!
He came back to finish with me and root me on.  Such a great son.

Ken finished just under 30 minutes and I finished just under 41 mins.. Wahoo!
