Catch up....

Well let me see.. holy moly it's been a WHOLE month since I posted.
Life has been busy. Running & more running. I even added some cross training in the mix.

Work and just plain busy. Plus there was some traveling too which messed up my whole schedule that week.  GRRR.

On the 27th of June, I left my beautiful mountain views and flew to Dallas for 36 hours or so.
I got to see my beautiful sister, the other crazy running girl in the family and that was AWESOME, with a capital A!  I got in a run while I was in back in Big D. Not sure how but I made it thru. That Dallas weather. OMG.. Yuck. How did I do it before I ask myself.
Seriously, it was already over 80 degrees at 730 in the morning. Days even weeks later I am still shaking my head at that weather.  So glad to be home to cooler temps and my God given mountain views.

As I said  I've started working in some cross training, mostly because my Achilles is acting up again, but I know it will help and I need to lay off my heel so I don't break it again.

So my cross training is Cycling. Yep you heard right, Runner Girl has taken up biking.
Which before seemed so just well, WRONG, to bike, when you can RUN but maybe it's the mountain air or I don't know what, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE cycling.

I feel like I am cheating on running, but seriously I LOVE it. I like it sooo much, I am sticking with this biking thing for a ENTIRE week and no running. .. Yes I know shocker!!!  But I have to. Remember?  My Achilles.
Yes that's it.  No I am not cheating but just laying off due to my injury.  Yes ... That's why. (at least that's what I will continue to say about it)

But seriously, this new thing, I like it so much, I'm already thinking about Century Rides , and wondering do I have time before the busy season at my job to train for a century ride, and could my body handle both training for a half and a century ride... so many thoughts just swirling.....

Anyway...

It will be time for Re-commitment soon, but more on that to come TOMORROW..

Time for new running shoes, but more on that soon .- COOL story too.

So seriously, stay tuned. Same BAT Channel.

Till tomorrow.

10 Weeks people.. 10 weeks

So in all my glorious training. well okay not so glorious, but in all of this madness that is training for a half marathon I almost forgot one of my so far biggest accomplishments. Well I really started before all my training so I can't say it is part of my training but then again it is... Anywho..

I hit a mile stone. Now this really has nothing to do with running but then again it does since diet is HUGE part of training. Anyway to the point.

10 weeks...

10 weeks ago I gave up sodas.. No more for me I said. They are loaded with sodium which causes high blood pressure and the acid in the sodas well they ruin your stomach. And Coke can be used to clean a CAR BATTERY or even your toilet. Dentists hate them since the acid is horrible for your teeth. How do I know they all hate them?

Well just ask my Orthodontist father in law, or any dentist. They will say STOP drinking sodas.

So back to my point, It has been 10, yes a big fat 10 weeks.
That's 70 whole days since I've had any kind of soda.

Not one of these.....
Or these ........
and not even one of these...

Which I tell you has been the hardest.. I absolutely love & adore Cream Soda.

Sodas were like my coffee too. So that means I've given up the dreaded C-word... Caffeine.

I can't say I haven't had moments of weakness and had some caffeine from tea, but NOT 1 stinkin bubbly sweet soda has crossed these lips. Nothing carbonated.

And that my dear friends is a HUGE accomplishment.

So I am proud of myself today. Congratulations to me and my 10 week anniversary.

Sidelined....

Holy moly 108 days to go. Now wait a minute, you might say 108 days sounds like a LONG time, but really in the scheme of things, those 108 days will fly by.

It was just 5 weeks ago that I committed to this, so I have 108 days to train and race, and fund raise.

I have met just over 10% of my goal, thanks to some awesome family and friends, with the help of a co worker or two as well but I have a ways to go.

I am side lined this week. Yes you heard correctly. Side lined. Sigh! Darn ankle/Achilles or what ever is causing the issue. Ryan says it is the pavement causing the issue, I say not. My body is in shock and just like the first time, it will get over itself.

So I am taking this week off from running. Originally I thought I would hit the rowing machine at the gym but Coach thought it wise to just stay off and let it be.

GRRRR... This makes me about as happy as a being trapped in a small cell with no windows, but I will deal.

Anyway, so for this week my focus is on my fundraising.

http://pages.teamintraining.org/rm/denver12/jforsman

I only have 1456.00 to go for my minimum I have to raise and just 1746.00 to hit my personal goal.

I can do this!

Mother's Day Mile

Well I was true to my inner Runner Girl, and decided to run the Mother's Day Mile on Mother's day this year. Instead of pampering myself, I laced up my trusty Newton's and ran.

In honor of all the mothers. My mother, my husband's mother, my sister, and even myself.

Yes Crazy Runner Girl is a momma too.

Just a mile as the title implies. We started next to GMA(Glenwood Medical Associates) and ran.

Up one good yucky hill and thru the residential streets nearby. Lots of people to cheer us on.

Not quite last in my age group but I did it.  Huffing and puffing a little due to the altitude but I finished and even beat my lat mile time, so at 11.25 I set a new PR too.

Yay! Go Moms!
